While the Bolton midfielder remains in a serious condition in intensive care, he has begun breathing independently again and speaking. (Tuesday update: Muamba has recovered consciousness and asked for his family.)
Chief executive Richard Scudamore praised the medics at Tottenham who raced onto the pitch on Saturday to resuscitate Muamba but says the league will look to see if there are "ways and means of making (the treatment) better in the future."
An ambulance was on hand at Saturday's FA Cup quarterfinal following criticism from then-Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in 2006 when goalkeeper Peter Cech's head was injured in a game.
The medical procedure available during EPL matches have been improved over the years and this move will only further strengthen the ability of medics to avert life threatening situations on and off the field.
