Paris:

Bordeaux lifted the French Coupe de la Ligue after beating Olympique Lyon by a goal to nil in the final on Saturday.

The only goal of the game was scored by Brazilian defender Henrique in the 89th minute, and saw Bordeaux win the cup for only the second time in their history.

Lyon, runaway leaders in Ligue-1, were looking to secure the first part of a league and cup double.

However, neither they nor Bordeaux were able to impose themselves on the game.

Dramatic finale

Before a dramatic finale the closest either side came was a 61st-minute shot from Bordeaux's Julien Faubert which went just wide of the post.

With the end of the 90 minutes approaching it looked as though extra time would be needed.

The result means that Gerard Houllier's Lyon miss out on a chance to claim their first league-and-cup double.

Bordeaux are now certain of a place in the UEFA Cup next season after winning the French Cup for the second time in their history.
