Rome:
AS Roma acquired Ludovic Giuly from FC Barcelona, signing the 31-year-old Frenchman to a three-year contract on Tuesday.
AS Roma paid Barcelona a transfer fee of $4.4 million for the forward, plus $551,000 per season subject to Champions League qualification, Roma said in a statement.
Giuly will earn $4.3 million a season for the first two years of his contract and US$4.4 million in the third before taxes, excluding performance-related bonuses.
"I am happy to be at Roma," Giuly said. "I have so many important memories with Barcelona but now I am here to win."
Giuly, who starter his career with Lyon and Monaco, scored 19 goals in 85 games with Barcelona. He joined the Spanish club in 2004 after helping Monaco reach the Champions League final.
Giuly, who was relegated to substitute's bench for most of last season, was unlikely to earn more playing time at Barca following the arrival of striker Thierry Henry from Arsenal last month.
Roma finished second behind Inter Milan in the Serie A last season, qualifying for the Champions League.
