London:
Amid reports that Juan Mata is close to being signed by Chelsea, club manager Andre Villas-Boas has praised the Valencia midfielder.
Reports in Spanish media claim the 23-year-old is set to join the Blues for around £23.5m million.
Villas-Boas refused to comment on the matter after his side's 2-1 win over West Brom but had some good words to say for Mata.Â
"He's a player who scores and assists and he can add to any squad in the world. He's not our player but he's an interesting player, a very good player," he said.
Mata has been at Valencia since 2007 and helped Spain win the under-21 European Championship this year.
Chelsea are in the hunt for a good midfielder and also have their eyes on Tottenham Hotspur's Luka Modric.
