A terrific start to the series for the style of cricket championed by Brendon McCullum and Ben Stokes. No matter how big the target, they played without fear and took the game right to India, and eventually beyond them. 1-0 to the hosts.

Shubman Gill states that Team India were planning to declare with a lead of 430-435 on Day 4, but India never managed to get to that. Says that India couldn't have done much more with the ball today. 

Ben Duckett deservedly wins 'Player of the Match'. The highest-ever score in a fourth innings run chase against India. Played the aggressor at the start, dealt with Bumrah, scored a magnificent 149. A special mention for Rishabh Pant -- not often do you make two centuries in a match and not get the Player of the Match award.

Team India didn't do much wrong. To lose a match despite scoring more than 800 runs across two innings will hurt them, but for much of the game, they were equals with England. Here are the three major things that went wrong:

1) Lower-middle order collapse in both innings

2) Several catches dropped, particularly in 1st innings

3) Lack of support for Bumrah, less decisiveness from other pacers

India have become the first-ever side in Test cricket history to lose a game despite having 5 centuries. Rishabh Pant hit two magnificent hundreds, Shubman Gill rose up on his captaincy debut, and openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul overcame the new ball challenge. But alas, it wasn't enough.

The previous record was held by Australia, who lost an Ashes match in 1928/29 despite making 4 centuries. Don Bradman made his first ton in that game.

Confirmation: Rain has delayed the start of the final session of Day 5. As if this riveting Test match couldn't get any more exciting. Any more dramatic. Stick tight to your seats folks. The Weather Gods still want to have a say. England need 102 runs. India need 6 wickets. But when does it start? We wait.

There seems to be rain on the cards. It has become darker at Headingley and the pitch is completely covered. We are still about 5 minutes away from the scheduled restart, but we wait to see whether rain will delay things again. As per AccuWeather, it is set to rain for an hour straight!

Unless we get a big downpour, we'll almost surely get a winner in this match now. England need 102 runs with six wickets in hand. India need 6 wickets within that to clinch a terrific victory from the jaws of defeat.

England have their two most experienced players at the crease, so they'll definitely still be the favourites. However, with 102 runs to get and six wickets needed, India will feel they can give a game. One quick wicket after Tea and they'll be right back in it. What can Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh, Shardul, Jadeja do? This will be an exciting final two hours of play.

Tea on Day 5! England will need 102 runs in the final session of the day. A session that saw England start off strong, but then a rain delay occurred. India got two wickets right after play resumed, with Prasidh Krishna making an impact. But right when it seemed England were steamrolling away again, Shardul Thakur provided 2 wickets in 2 balls to keep India's hopes alive.

Ollie Pope gets off the mark with a boundary. The centurion from the first innings, Pope flicks it through mid-wicket on the second ball he faces. Runs away for 4 with ease. Duckett then goes after Jadeja with a brilliantly executed reverse-sweep. Pope targets the same area, but with an excellent cut shot, and gets 4 more. 200 up for England, who don't seem to be affected by the loss of Crawley's wicket.

We wait to see how long the delay is. This could be a welcome break for Team India to gather themselves together.

England are on the front foot as it stands. Not only have they not lost a single wicket, they're also scoring runs at exactly the rate they need to, nearly 4 runs per over. With at least 66 more overs scheduled today, England should chase this down comfortably if they keep wickets in hand.

Mohammed Siraj was left unhappy with Zak Crawley in the final over before Lunch, when the England batter backed off with a sightscreen problem just before the final ball. This ended up stretching the over, and India couldn't get one more in. Can Siraj fuel that anger into some wickets after the break?

Seems like India need a moment of magic here to make a breakthrough. Duckett and Crawley have fended off nearly everything. They'll be pinning their hopes on Jasprit Bumrah, but the likes of Siraj and co. also need to step up and produce an encouraging spell.

Save a few rippers from Jasprit Bumrah early in the session, this has been complete domination from England. Duckett has been brilliant, being the aggressor. It has allowed Crawley to slowly build his innings and grow in confidence as the session has gone on. 

Lunch on Day 5! A very successful session for England. 96 runs, and, more importantly, 0 wickets lost. Bumrah, Siraj, Prasidh, Shardul and Jadeja have been unable to make an in-road. Duckett has slammed a fine half-century, and Crawley is nearing his.
