Karachi:

Senior Pakistan batsman Younus Khan, who pulled out of the Test tour to New Zealand, still remains undecided about joining the team for the full tour of Australia from December.

Younus admitted at a launch ceremony held at Headingly on Tuesday for the Pakistan and Australia series next year in England that he had still not decided about going to Australia.

"I don't know whether I will be able to join the team in time for the series in Australia. I have not decided as yet. Right now I am just resting and recouping and will start playing some domestic cricket soon," Younus said.

Younus pulled out of the Test tour to New Zealand after the national team lost the one-day series to New Zealand under his captaincy in Abu Dhabi earlier this month.

Due to his decision to take a break from international cricket, the board was forced to appoint Muhammad Yousuf as captain for the New Zealand Test tour.

The Pakistan team has already reached New Zealand and plays the first Test in Dunedin from November 24.

The team is scheduled to fly straight from New Zealand to Australia where Pakistan will play the Boxing day Test match and if Younus decides to comeback he will be joining the team in Melbourne.

Sources in the board said that the Chairman of the board, Ejaz Butt had had another long discussion with Younis when they met in Headingly for the launch ceremony and apparently Younis has been told to play some domestic cricket this month and be prepared to join the team in Australia.

Sources said that Butt had told Younis he could either resume his career as captain or a senior player in Australia but the final decision would have to be taken by Younis himself.

Meanhwile, former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq in a fresh statement said that Yousuf was such a senior player that the board must appoint him as captain for atleast a year to give him proper opportunity to show his worth.

"I am sure Yousuf with his experience and standing in the team can do a good job with the team. He must given a long term assignment as captain," Inzamam said.

But sources said this is next to impossible for the board as they also have to keep in mind the 2011 World Cup.
