Will Virender Sehwag be part of the Indian tour party to the West Indies next month and England in July? No, if reports of him having to undergo shoulder surgery at the end of the Indian Premier League, is true. If Sehwag really needs shoulder surgery, how come he is participating in the gruelling 50-day event?
Either the surgery can wait or Sehwag is just living up to commitments as his absence would affect his Delhi Daredevils' chances in the Twenty20 league.
However, had Sehwag opted for surgery after India's World Cup victory, it could have ensured his availability for the all-important four-Test series in England. Hopefully, Sehwag does not aggravate his injury during the IPL.
It may be recalled that the same shoulder injury (Grade-1 tear) ruled Sehwag out of the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 in England. Sehwag had aggravated the injury during the preceding IPL Season 2 in South Africa.
