Success has been following Virat Kohli for the last couple of years. Almost every bad delivery that touches his willow turns into a four or a six. But that has been the trend in limited overs cricket, in particular.
Kohli hasn't flourished as he would have liked to in Tests but the India captain always comes out fighting against the toughest of oppositions when needed.
He added another feather in his cap when he notched his 13th century in Test cricket in the third and final game of the series against New Zealand at the Holkar Stadium in Indore, where the first international five-day game is taking place, on Saturday.
And this century is all hard work from him as it took Kohli eight innings to reach the three-figure mark since his career-best knock of 200 against the West Indies at North Sound in July.
Just to surmise how difficult it has been for a batsman like Kohli to score runs off late; in his last seven Test innings Kohli's average has been only 18.85. Compare that to his overall career average of close to 45. His highest score in those innings was a mere 45 apart from four single-digit scores which he got.
Also, a point to be taken into consideration is the fact that this is the first century of the three-match series. Such difficult were the wickets at Kanpur and Kolkata that no batsman was successful in reaching the three-figure mark.
However, today was another day and this historic day at Indore became even more special with the classic knock of the darling of the crowd who rose to applaud and acknowledge the hundred.

A tap and Kohli ran towards the other end. The stumps were shattered for a run-out chance but the skipper was in. He raised his bat and thanked the opposition players for coming up, to congratulate him.
Kohli's innings was studded with 10 boundaries and he did not try to rush on with the scoring. The 27-year-old put away the poor deliveries for fours and knocked about to get the scoreboard ticking.
The Delhi-born came out to bat in a precarious situation in the morning sesion of the first day when India had lost both openers Murali Vijay and comeback man Gautam Gambhir.
Another wicket at that stage and the home team could have been in more than a spot of bother. But Kohli played a captain's knock to bring about yet another century and save India from the blushes again.
Due credit must also be given to middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane, who gave ample support to Kohli from the other end. When runs were not flowing from the bat of Kohli, Rahane stepped in smashed a few boundaries around the park.
India ended Day 1 of the third Test at 267/3 with Kohli unbeaten on 103 off 191 balls.
