The combination of the Western Province and Boland first-class cricket teams is collectively termed as the team of “Cape Cobras”. Earlier known as the “Western Province Boland”, the new name was given to the team in the 2005-06 season. Its home ground is the Newlands Cricket Ground.
The Cobras are one of the most successful teams in the Twenty20 format and have won South Africa's domestic T20 title twice, one in the 2008-09 season and the other one coming in the 2010-11 season. On both occasions, the team qualified to play in the Champions League T20 held in India, as a result of winning their country's domestic Twenty20 competition.
