MS Dhoni and his team stand a chance to extend their ODI form to the shortest format of the sport and can take the second spot in the ICC T20 rankings if they beat England in the lone T20 contest in Kolkata on Saturday.
While India threaten an ODI whitewash after winning 4 of the 5 matches against Alastair Cook's team, the hosts can ensure that the misery is extended as a win in the T20 will ensure that India jump three places from their fifth position currently, at the cost of England who will topple from the top-spot and finish the tour as the third-best T20 team. Sri Lanka will take the Number 1 spot.
India has 112 points as against England's 127 with Sri Lanka, New Zealand and South Africa separating the two opponents, according to the latest rankings (October 24, 2011). The Indian skipper though feels it's the ODI which is his current priority. (Read report here)
The final ODI before the T20 match is scheduled to take place at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.
