Sreesanth Hopes to Play For India in 2019 World Cup
Former India pace bowler S Sreesanth has expressed his desire to be part of the Indian team for the 2019 World Cup.
Former India pace bowler S Sreesanth, who was recently cleared by the MCOCA court in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing case , has expressed his desire to represent India in the 2019 World Cup in England. Although the court has cleared his name, the BCCI has not responded positively on the request to lift his life ban.
The Kerala fast bowler, who has played 27 Tests and has been part of the 2007 World Twenty20 win and the 2011 World Cup win, was spotted in the Sree Krishna Temple in Guruvayoor in what was his first public appearance since the verdict.
The Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) have tried to persuade the BCCI to lift the ban but it has not yielded the desired results so far but Sreesanth is not losing hope. The BCCI earlier announced that the right-arm pacer will remained banned from cricket despite the court's verdict.
"I will wait for the BCCI decision as I know there are people there who have a heart in the BCCI. If not today, tomorrow, I know the ban will be lifted. I have waited all this while and I know I will through performance make it to the Indian team for the 2019 World cup. And if not, I will at least play for the Kerala team," said Sreesanth.
The 32-year-old said he has started training. Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy recently expressed the hope that the BCCI ban will be lifted.
