South African Pacer Kagiso Rabada, India's Nemesis in ODIs, on Indian Premier League Radar?
Kagiso Rabada, the gangling South African seamer, troubled India's top batsmen with his pace and line during the ODI series. He could win an Indian Premier League berth next year.

Kagiso Rabada has been South Africa's biggest find in the limited overs series in India so far. The 20-year-old pacer, with a smooth run-up and copy-book high-arm action, was Proteas wrecker-in-chief as South Africa won a historic bilateral series in India on Sunday. With two new teams to join the Indian Premier League 2016, Rabada could be a hot property. (R Ashwin's Absence Made all the Difference: AB de Villiers)
Rabada was the joint leading wicket-taker with Dale Steyn in the ODI series. His 10 wickets included the biggest scalps in India batting and more importantly, on wickets generally good for scoring runs. The right-arm pacer, used intelligently by AB de Villiers, knocked out India in the decider at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday. His 4 for 41 in Mumbai established Rabada as an ideal foil for the world-class Dale Steyn. India's riposte was snuffed out when Rabada and Steyn came back to bowl their second and third spells, respectively.
Rabada, having got rid of Virat Kohli in his new ball spell, dismissed both Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina in a burst of 9 balls while Steyn had a spell of 3/7 in 3 overs that included Ajinkya Rahane. Rabada and Steyn had almost identical strike rates of 28.1 and 28.2.
The four-Test series will be Rabada's acid test. He is yet to play the five-day format, but with winter setting in and Mohali, the venue of the first Test, likely to aid seamers, Rabada will be a top choice for the South African team management. And the Johannesburg-born pacer is focused.
"My mind is not on IPL now. My mind was on winning this (ODI) series but it will be great to play in the IPL. It's something I want to do in the future," Rabada told ESPNCricinfo. "I don't know when it will come but I am not too involved in that."
The South Africans will resume preparation for the Tests with a two-day tour match against BCCI Board President's XI in Mumbai from October 30. Rabada will surely get a break and so will Vernon Philander, who is expected to bowl a lot during the Test series.
"I am going to keep preparing well and making sure I do the right things to make sure I can even get better. I don't know what my limit is so I am always pushing myself, by asking questions as well.
"What I have learnt is that international cricket is great competition, especially when you come to India. The intensity is very high and you really need to be on the button every ball. I've enjoyed it a lot. I've learnt to have a high intensity at all times," Rabada said.
Surely, this young man knows what is priority. The ODI success sets Rabada up brilliantly for the remainder of the long tour.
