Mumbai :
Sachin Tendulkar has promised to give a pep talk to his Mumbai teammates ahead of their three-day clash against the visiting Australian cricket team commencing on September 30.
"I have requested Sachin to come and have a word with our boys and he's promised to meet them tomorrow," said Mumbai team coach Chandrakant Pandit.
Tendulkar, who smashed the Australian attack to all parts of the same ground to notch his maiden first class double hundred in the tour opener when Mark Taylor's squad visited India in 1997-98, is uncertain to play in the first match because of tennis elbow injury.
Pandit said the entire team was looking forward to Tendulkar's visit before the match.
The Ranji champions, who lost by a heavy margin in its season-opening Irani Cup clash against the Rest of India at Mohali, would put their best foot forward against the Aussies, he said.
"We did not play well in Mohali. It was our first match after a big gap. Our batting failed, but I am sure we will do better and give the Australians a tough fight. I have also some tricks up my sleeves, some surprises," the former India wicket keeper said.
Mumbai captain Sairaj Bahutule described the match as a big bonus for his side and said it provided an extra opportunity for his team members to make a mark against a top national team like Australia. (PTI)
