Chandigarh:
"Reliance 1 was made with the principle of scouting young talents and our main focus is to give platform to the youngsters. We are also serious about enhancing sporting facilities in the country," Nita, who is involved with this new project, told reporters here.
Nita, whose Reliance 1 team is currently playing in the J P Atray memorial cricket tournament here, flew down straight from Mumbai in a private jet to cheer for her team, being captained by India discard wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel and also features Delhi dasher Virender Sehwag as opener.
"We are looking at holistic development of young talents," she said, adding the team had also signed up allrounders Yousuf Pathan and Ravinder Jadeja.
Dressed in a top and a pair of jeans, Nita, who keenly watched the match between her team and BPCL, said the talented youngsters of Reliance 1 will get a chance to play for Mumbai Indians in the IPL in the future.
Asked about her experience with Mumbai Indians during the IPL, Nita said, "It has been one learning curve. Sitting in the dug outs with the team and cheering for it is altogether a different feeling."
"Also, you learn so much about sportsmanship. We teach it to our kids, we teach it in our schools. It's about taking victory and defeat in our stride, which I think has been the biggest learning curve," she said.
She said accepting a loss is what sportmanship is all about although no one likes to taste defeat.
Asked to comment on experienced Mumbai Indians players Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya, she said the duo bring alongwith them wealth of experience to the team.
On Tendulkar stan ding on the verge of completing 20 years of international cricket, Nita said, "He is an icon and only Indian to have achieved this feat. I wish him good luck. He has made India and all of us so proud."
