New Delhi:

Yuvraj Singh returned for a duck as the Punjab batsmen failed to capitalise on Sunny Sohal's 110 and were restricted by Delhi to 237 for 5 in first day of the Ranji Trophy's Super League match at Roshanara Club Ground on Monday.

Left-handers Uday Kaul (28) and Ankur Kakkar (30) were showing good understanding when the day's play was called off by the umpires on 85.2 overs due to bad light.

Earlier, invited to bat first, Punjab suffered an early jolt when opener Karan Goel (2) had to head back cheaply after being bowled out by left-arm pacer Ashish Nehra.

Sunny Sohal, who struck 20 boundaries en route his century, also paired up with opener Ravinder Singh to give Punjab a recovery and added 63 runs off 107 deliveries in second-wicket partnership, which ended when Pradeep Sangwan dismissed Ravinder on 37 as Virat Kohli pouched the ball.

Sangwan bagged two wickets for 56 runs in 17.2 overs during the day.

Sohal stayed on the middle for 261 minute before Sangwan caught him on C Naidu's delivery.

India cricketer Yuvraj Singh left everybody disappointed when he was sent packing by Sangwan after facing just six balls as Shikhar Dhawan caught him.

Punjab skipper Pankaj Dharmani tried to carry the flag and spent 80 minutes on the ground, before Nanda dismissed him on 16 off 65 deliveries.

To the end of the day, Kakkar produced some quick runs sending Sangwan for a four and a sixer in two successive deliveries to help Punjab reach 237.

For Delhi, Nanda took two wickets for 36 runs, while Nehra managed one for 66.
