New Zealand have always been rich in terms of quality pace bowlers and Lockie Ferguson is another name in that segment. The speedster has come of age as a white-ball specialist for New Zealand.
Hailing from Auckland, Lockie Ferguson is a right-arm pacer for New Zealand. He is one of the very fast bowlers, with the ability to cross 150 kph consistently. Ferguson began his professional career when he first represented Auckland during the 2012–13 New Zealand domestic season. His actual rise began when he had an outstanding 2014–15 first-class season. He was selected for the New Zealand ODI side in 2016 for their tour of Australia. In early 2017, Ferguson received his maiden call-up to the T20I side for the series against Bangladesh. In 2019, he made his Test debut against Australia in Perth.
Lockie also participated in the Indian T20 League where he represented the now-defunct Pune franchise in the 2017 season. He has since gone on to represent the Kolkata and Gujarat franchises and has also represented the Manchester Originals in The Hundred.
Unfortunately, Lockie Ferguson has been plagued with injuries in his career. A bowler with the happy knack to rush the batter with his lethal pace, searing yorkers and scary bumpers, Lockie can take the pitch out of the equation and trouble batters on any surface. Many cricket pundits are of the opinion that pace is not everything, but when it comes to bowling some serious pace, Lockie Ferguson is clearly a cut above the rest.
