Raymond Vernon Jennings is a former South African cricketer. A right-handed batsman, he was one of the best wicket-keepers of his era and his career crossed South Africa’s period of apartheid. He was not handed over the task of wicket-keeping on the Proteas’ return to cricket, considering his age which was then 38.
Jennings started coaching at Gauteng and later moved to Easterns. He also coached South Africa A which granted him a short stint with the National team. He was later replaced by Mickey Arthur. Jennings, known to be a fitness freak was appointed as the coach of the South African Under-19 team in the 2008 World Cup in Malaysia that ended as the runner-up to India. In the same year, he took over as the head coach of the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.
