A right-arm fast bowler in his mid-20's from New South Wales, Jackson Bird moved to Tasmania in order to enhance his cricketing career. He soon became the pick of the bowlers for the Tigers after his debut season in 2011-12 where he grabbed 53 Sheffield Shield wickets, topping the wickets tally.
For his creditable performance, Bird was named the Sheffield Shield Player of the Year. He also represented Australia A in the 2012 tour of England, following which he was included in Australia's Test squad ahead of that year's Boxing Day Test against Sri Lanka. Bird’s hard work paid off, as he picked four wickets in his maiden international outing.
