Tanzim Hasan Sakib is a Bangladeshi cricketer known for his right-arm fast-medium bowling. He represents Sylhet Division in domestic cricket and has emerged as a promising talent for Bangladesh on the international stage.
Hailing from Tilakchanpur village in Balaganj Upazila, Sylhet, Tanzim showed early promise in cricket. While studying in class VIII, he was selected at Moulvibazar District Stadium for the under-13 national team. After completing a specialized bowling course at Zahoor Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong, he joined BKSP, Bangladesh's premier sports institute. His development continued as he played for the national under-17 team in India in 2016 and later represented the under-19 squad in England and Sri Lanka in 2019.
He made his List A debut on March 27, 2019, for Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League. Later that year, he was named in Bangladesh’s squad for the 2020 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His first-class debut came on March 29, 2021, for Sylhet Division in the National Cricket League, followed by his T20 debut on June 5, 2021, for Abahani Limited in the Dhaka Premier Division T20 League. In December 2021, he was selected for the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the West Indies.
His international career took off in 2023 when he made his ODI debut against India on September 15 during the Asia Cup. Later that year, he was included in Bangladesh’s squad for the tour of New Zealand and earned his first T20I cap on December 27, 2023, against the Kiwis.
In 2024, Tanzim was selected for Bangladesh’s squad in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, where he delivered a standout performance. He bowled a double-wicket maiden and a wicket maiden, registering 21 dot balls - the highest in a men’s T20 World Cup match at that point. Despite Lockie Ferguson later surpassing this record, Tanzim made a significant impact, taking 11 wickets in the tournament with an impressive economy rate of 6.20. Tanzim Hasan Sakib has quickly risen through the ranks of Bangladesh cricket, showcasing his talent and composure on the international stage.
