Karachi:
"We don't know what happened in the tenure of former chairman Nasim Ashraf but we don't want to get involved with the IPL auction process," a senior PCB official said.
Ashraf was the PCB chairman when the IPL was launched and fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar had alleged that the former had taken commission to facilitate players' contracts with the IPL.
Other players too had objected to the previous board's role and interest in getting involved in the auction process of the IPL.
Though Ashraf managed to get unconditional apology from Akhtar following legal action, the incident forced the present PCB administration to tread cautiously.
"We don't want a situation where anyone raises questions as to what interest we have in IPL players' auction," the senior board official said.
He added that the IPL was a private venture and the PCB only came into play when players required permission to go to India for the league or if there was a clash of dates between the IPL and national duty.
