Karachi:
Senate committee Chairman Ghaffar Qureshi confirmed the hearing has been scheduled for July 9 as there has been a lot of criticism over the selection of the touring squad.
"Obviously everyone is surprised at some of the selections. Why Younus Khan was not picked when there is no ban on him, why other deserving players were ignored? The PCB and its selectors have to explain their actions," he said.
This is not the first time that the PCB officials and selectors have been summoned by the Senate.
Qureshi said there appeared to be no logic behind the selection of players and there was also plenty of controversy over the way the squad was announced and why some selectors were not involved in the selection process.
"We want to know the answers because the people are not satisfied with the team and we want to know which criteria was adopted for picking the players," he said.
Two senators and members of the Senate committee Humayun Akhtar and Tariq Azeem have already moved an application for a privilege motion to be filed against PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt in the Senate.
Akhtar and Azeem filed the privilege motion after Butt hinted they were pressurising him to approve and clear an outstanding bill running into millions of rupees of the contractor who built a new enclosure at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore.
