The meeting between BCCI President Shashank Manohar and Shahryar Khan at the BCCI office has been cancelled after Shiv Sainiks stormed the BCCI office and protested about the potential series between Pakistan and India in December. The Shiv Sainiks stormed into the BCCI office in Mumbai and waved placards reading, "Shahryar, Go Back". They also shouted slogans in Manohar's cabin. However, there were no reports of any damage or injuries. Security has been beefed up at the BCCI headquarters following the incident. According to reports, at least 10 Shiv Sena members have been detained.
"The talks are not happening as of now due to the current situation but you cannot say that it won't happen in future," a top BCCI source told PTI.
Shahryar and head of the PCB's executive committee, Najam Sethi were expected to meet with the new BCCI president Manohar and secretary Anurag Thakur along with other government officials in New Delhi on Monday.
"The trip was made on the invitation of Shashank Manohar who took over as the new Indian cricket chief," an official in the PCB had said.
Shahryar had also discussed the planned series with BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur on the sidelines of the ICC meeting in Dubai.
Thakur had assured him a final decision could be taken later this month and conveyed Manohar's invitation to visit India to Shaharyar.
A reliable source in the PCB said Shahryar and Sethi had both gone to India after holding discussions with the government's National Security Advisor Sartaj Aziz.
