Live Score - Pakistan vs New Zealand updates
Right then! That is all we have for you from this game. Three massive Test wins and Pakistan would be hungry for more. Batting is clicking, so is the bowling, just the fielding needs a bit of improvement. They would look to be clinical as the second Test approaches on Monday, 17th November, 2014 at 0600 GMT (1130 IST) at Dubai. Do join in then! Adios! take Care!
Victorious Pakistan skipper MISBAH-UL-HAQ says that it is a great feeling to be part of the winning team, a young team, when no one expects them to do so well. On his own form, he thanks all his supporters for standing by him in trying and testing times. On his own feelings when times are not the best, he says self-belief is the key and also one needs to be patient as results do not come one's way every time. Says it helped him when he was not getting any runs in the Sri Lankan tour and the Australian ODI series. Does not want to give credit to any one individual but feels that the Younus-Azhar partnership in the first Test against Australia spurred everyone on, giving the team belief that they can beat Australia. And from then on, things have been going pretty well.
This is a surprise. RAHAT ALI has been named the Man Of The Match! Rahat thanks the almighty for helping him earn his first Man Of The Match award. Praises his coaches for helping him bowl well. Adds that he did well in the Australia Tests too but wickets were not coming his way. Says that the plan was to bowl straight. Adds that Waqar and Mushtaq make him work hard (laughs) but it is helping him eventually!
Some awards - 1. MOHAMMAD HAFEEZ - Master blaster for hitting the most number of boundaries in the match. 2. AHMED SHEHZAD - Best batsman of the match. 3. MISBAH-UL-HAQ - Most colourful innings of the match. 4 - RAHAT ALI - Fastest bowler of the match. 5. TOM LATHAM - Outstanding innings of the match.
New Zealand captain BRENDON MCCULLUM is very happy with the way his young side fought in this Test match. Is proud of Latham for his century and congratulates Pakistan on their win. Praises his opposition fast bowlers for reversing the ball well and utilizing their talent brilliantly. Admits that spin is their (Kiwis') major threat but so is reverse swing. Feels that Pakistan have done well in the past in these conditions and it is difficult for teams coming in from outside due to the heat. Feels that some partnerships in the second innings gives them hope of doing better in the next Test. Adds that the pitch quickened up a touch on the second day but it was difficult to pick up wickets due to Pakistan's excellent start. Hopes to win the toss next time, bat well and bat big. Promises that New Zealand would perform better in the next Test.
New Zealand had a few positives too. Sodhi and Craig bowled brilliantly in the first innings without any reward. Latham then made a gritty century. Unfortunately, there was nothing much in the second innings, apart from the half century from Sodhi and a little resistance from the tail. With this win, MISBAH now becomes the most successful captain for Pakistan in Tests with 15 victories, going past Imran Khan and Javed Miandad.
Everything going right for Pakistan. The top 5 batsmen scoring over 80 in the first innings, then the bowlers helping gain a lead of 304, Hafeez getting back to form in the second innings with a century and in the end, another good bowling display to wrap the match up. Rahat, Babar and Yasir had a good match, finishing with 6, 5 and 4 wickets respectively.
A comprehensive win for Pakistan then. Took a touch longer than they would have hoped but it is a big win nevertheless. Craig was dismissed quickly this morning but Boult and Sodhi frustrated Pakistan with the latter even reaching his half century. Eventually, the drinks break spoilt the momentum and Imran struck.

PITCH REPORT - "Docile", says Danny Morrison on air. New Zealand just need to bat properly. That was for the remaining two matches of this series. There will be turn and spinners should finish this off soon.
WEATHER - It is a pleasant morning with a tinge of breeze. But conditions are expected to get hotter as the day progresses, if we play that long.
It was yet another appalling day at the office for the Kiwis. First, Mohammad Hafeez announced himself back into form with a brilliant century, helping Pakistan set a target of 480. If that was not enough, New Zealand went into a slide to be 8 down. Just 2 wickets needed for Pakistan to wrap this match up. 30 minutes? An hour? A session? How long will this match last? May be option 2. Hello and a warm welcome to the opening session of the first Test of the 3-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand at Abu Dhabi.
... DAY 5, SESSION 1 ...
Earlier in the day, a sterling century by Hafeez helped Pakistan set a target of 480. They are improving with every passing game and tomorrow it should not take long for the bowlers to wrap it up. Do join us at 0600 GMT (1130 IST) tomorrow to watch the final rites of this Test. Adios! Take Care!

As a bowler, Imran would feel, "I bowl good balls and they miss the edges and the stumps. How does Rahat get one off the pads? What more do I need to do to pick up wickets?" Have patience, my dear bowler. This is a team effort. Sometimes, your hard work results in your team mates getting wickets. Your time will come soon.

OUT! That is plumb, just plumb! This is what happens when you play in New Zealand and then do not adjust outside. The wickets over there are usually good, support true bounce while the ones away, especially in the sub-continent, need not be necessarily so. It pitched on a good length, around middle, Anderson trusts the bounce, expects the ball to go over the top and shoulders arms. Crash. The ball hits him flush on the pads. Watling is shocked. So are New Zealand. Signs are in for a massive, massive defeat.
BJ WATLING walks in at number 7, replacing Neesham. This is effectively the last batting pair at the crease.

Session Pakistan again! The hosts continue to tighten their grip around the visitors' neck. Hafeez came out attacking and got to his ton. Pakistan declared on 175 as soon as Hafeez got to his ton.
