The Indian physiotherapist of the Nepalese cricket team has been fired following his arrest in Northern Ireland over allegations of sexual assault during the ongoing World T20 qualifying tournament.
Police arrested Aijaz Bashir Ashai, an Indian citizen after a masseuse accused the 42-year-old of molesting her in Belfast on Tuesday, according to Uttam Karmacharya, general secretary of the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN).
"After the masseuse accused the Nepal team's physiotherapist of molestation, we decided to terminate his contract," Karmacharya said in a statement on Thursday.
Ashai was hired from India last month to work with the team during the qualifying stages of the Twenty 20 World Cup, according to the official.
He was granted bail after appearing in court in Northern Ireland earlier this week but faces a court hearing next month, according to the CAN officials in Nepal.
