New Delhi:
The telecast of the 1st ODI between India and England on Friday, had a delayed start because of non-payment of bank guarantee rather than technical reasons as clarified by Neo Sports, the official broadcasters.
The broadcasters were to pay Rs 4 crore to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and an equal amount of bank guarantee. The payment however, came late on Friday and therefore, the permission to upload the feed came late as well.
Viewers had to watch the television replays of Ajinkya Rahane's dropped catch in the second over and it is clear then that the payment issues and not technical difficulties was the reason why the telecast could not begin.
