Nagpur Test: Day 2 highlights
Here are the statistical highlights of the second day's play between India and South Africa in the first Test in Nagpur.

South Africa's 558 for six is their fifth total of 500 and more against India in Tests - the said total is their second highest, next only to the 563 at Bloemfontein in November 2001.
South Africa's previous highest against India in India was 540 at Chennai in March 2008.
South Africa have recorded the highest total at VCAS, Jamtha, surpassing India's 441 against Australia in November 2008.
South Africa's aforesaid total is also the best by a visiting side at this venue, obliterating Australia's 355 in Novemebr 2008.
Hashim Amla (253 not out) has registered his career-best innings in Tests, obliterating the 176 not out against New Zealand at Johannesburg in November 2007. His previous highest against India was 159 at Chennai in March 2008.
Amla's innings is now the highest individual knock at VCAS, Jamtha, bettering Kallis' 173 in the present Test, now-in-progress.
Amla has become the second South African to register a double hundred against India, joining Abraham de Villiers' 217 not out at Ahmedabad in April 2008. (Herschelle Gibbs had missed the feat narrowly - 196 at Port Elizabeth in November 2001).
Amla is the 13th batsman to post a double hundred against India in India, joining Mahela Jayawardene (275), Younis Khan (267), Rohan Kanhai (256), Faoud Bacchus (250), Clive Lloyd (242 not out), Andy Flower (232 not out), Bert Sutcliffe (230 not out), Abraham de Villiers (217 not out), Dean Jones (210), Mike Gatting (207), Matthew Hayden (203) and Graeme Fowler (201.
Amla is the 14th South African to register a double hundred. Graeme Smith is the only one to have recorded four such knocks, followed by Gary Kirsten (three).
Amla's 253 not out is the fourth highest against India in India - the top three being Mahela Jayawardene - 275 at Ahmedabad in November last year, Younis Khan - 267 at Bangalore in March 2005 and Rohan Kanhai - 256 at Kolkata in Dec.1958/Jan.1959. The only other to post a 250 againsgt India in India is Faoud Bacchus at Kanpur in 1978-79.
Amla has recorded the seventh highest innings for South Africa - the highet being the 277 by Graeme Smith against England at Birmingham in July 2003. Smith is the only South African to post two innings of 250 or more.
Amla's aforesaid knock is also his highest first-class score.
Hashim Amla and Jacques Kallis were involved in a stand of 340 - the highest by any pair against India in India for the third wicket and the second highest by any pair for any wicket against India in India, next only to the 351 for the sixth wicket by Mahela Jayawardene and Prasanna Jayawardene for Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad in November last year.
The previous best stand for the third wicket against India in India was 324 between Inzamam-ul-Haq and Younis Khan at Bangalore in March 2005.
The 340-run partnership is the highest for the third wicket on Indian soil - the highest for India for this wicket-position is 316 between Gundappa Viswanath and Yashpal Sharma against England at Chennai in January 1982.
Amla-Kallis' pair stand is the seventh of 300 or more for any wicket against India. Of the seven such partnerships, five have been recorded for the third wicket and one each for the second wicket and sixth wicket.
The aforesaid stand is the first of 300 or more for any wicket in India-South Africa Tests.
The 340-run partnership is now the second highest for the third wicket against India - the highest being the 451 between Javed Miandad and Mudassar Nazar for Pakistan at Hyderabad (Sind) in 1982-83.
Kallis' 173 off 351 balls is his second highest in an overseas Test, next only to the 189 not out against Zimbabwe at Bulawayo in September 2001.
Overall, the aforesaid innings is his fourth highest in Tests - his two best innings in South Africa are 186 against New Zealand at Johannesburg in November 2007 and 177 against West Indies at Durban in December 2003.
Kallis has been dismissed for the fifth time by
Harbhajan Singh in seven Tests - the most times by an Indian bowler. Anil Kumble and Sreesanth have dismissed Kallis three times each.
Kallis has averaged 62.17 against India - 1057 in 12 Tests, including three hundreds and five fifties.
Amongst the batsmen with 10,000 runs each in Tests as well as in ODIs, Kallis is the only one to have averaged 55..00 (55.16) in Tests as well as 45.00 (45.25) in ODIs.
For the first time, two batsmen from South Africa have recorded 150 or more in the same Test innings against India.
Amit Mishra (53-5-140-0), for the third time in a Test innings, has conceded 100 runs or more - his first two instances being the 58-6-203-1 against Sri Lanka at Ahmedabad in November last year and 47-12-144-2 against Australia at Delhi in October 2008. The said instance is his first - conceding 100 runs without taking any wicket.
Abraham de Villiers' 21st fifty in Tests is his first against India.
Villiers has completed his 2,000 runs away from home - 2010 (ave.54.32) in 24 Tests, including five centuries and ten fifties.
Villiers is the eighth batsman to amass 2,000 runs or more in Tests away from home for South Africa and only four have aggregated 3,000 runs or more - Jacques Kallis (4803), Gary Kirsten (3905), Graeme Smith (3638) and Herschelle Gibbs (3112).
Amla and Villiers, with their 108-run stand, have established a fourth wicket record for South Africa against India, bettering the 105 between Herschelle Gibbs and Boeta Dippenaar at Port Elizabeth in November 2001.
Harbhajan Singh (46-1-166-2) has conceded 166 runs - the most by an Indian bowler in an innings aganst South Africa, surpassing his own figures of 44.5-4-164-5 at Chennai in March 2008.
Harbhajan became the only Indian bowler to have conceded 150 runs or more in an innings twice against South Africa. For South Africa, the only bowler to concede 200 runs or more in an innings against India is Paul Harris - 53.1-6-203-3 in the 2007-08 Chennai Test.
