Murali equals Akram's record

Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan on Tuesday equalled Pakistani tearaway Wasim Akram's world record of 502 one-day wickets at the R Premadasa Stadium.
Muralitharan had a firing Yuvraj Singh (117) caught by Chamara Kapugedera at point to achieve the feat.
The 36-year-old offie achieved the feat in 327 matches while Akram had managed the feat in 356 ties.
Muralitharan, who took just one wicket in last two one-dayers against India in the ongoing five-match series, finally reached the mark in his eighth over.
The Kandy offie, who has braved many a controversies related to his bowling action, is the highest wicket-taker in Tests with 769 scalps from 125 matches and is just one wicket away from becoming the greatest ODI bowler.
