New Zealand's India tour saw its first bright spot when they got the better of the hosts in a close second ODI at the Ferozeshah Kotla. Chasing 243, Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led India fell short by six runs to leave the five-match series tied at 1-1.
Despite losing the top order early, India looked poised for a successful chase till the time captain Dhoni, one of the best finishers, was on crease. But he fell on 39 as he was caught by Tim Southee off his bowling leaving India at 172/6.
Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner felt that catch turned the game in New Zealand's favour.
"We pride ourselves in being a good fielding side. We took some good catches in the second ODI against India. Like Tim Southee's catch which got MS Dhoni out was a game-changer," Santner said.
The third ODI is in Mohali and Santner there is room for improvement for the visitors.
"We have bowled and fielded well so far but we need to improve in batting. There is always room fpr improvement," he said.
