That's all from us folks! The T20I series is done and dusted. Do join us back on 19th of August at 1230 local time when these two teams will play the first ODI at the same venue. Until then, goodnight and take care!
Martin Guptill is adjudged the Man of the Match as well as the Man of the Series. Says he likes to look what the wicket does upfront and play his own way. Says they needed to be on top of their game against a side like South Africa and that they played well today. Adds they played to build a defendable total today and is happy they came out on top. Ends by saying they are looking forward to the ODIs and will look to play well.
Kane Williamson says his knee is okay and nothing to be worried about. Says overall it was a much improved effort and everyone chipped in and that got them to 177, also they bowled well to take crucial wickets. Adds South Africa always come hard but they put in a good fielding performance and smart bowling display to win it tonight. Ends by saying that they focus on one game at a time and that they are a young side.
AB de Villiers says the total was a little bit above par. Adds they lost crucial wickets at the start of the innings and credit the Kiwis for their performance. Says they gave away like 20 runs more and the bowlers leaked runs initially. Further adds he doesn't want to blame the toss. Says everyone got a run and a chance to perform. Adds that, what matters is everyone got opportunities to play.
South Africa bowled well early on but when they came out to bat, they were pretty mediocre. None of the batsmen put up a fight to chase the target down. The dismal performance from the openers and the big wicket of AB de Villiers summed it up for the hosts. Farhaan Behardien then along with Miller kept going but the scoreboard pressure was way too much. He then got out on a juicy full toss and Miller was soon running out of partners and as a result even he got out. However it was good performance from both these sides. Presentation coming up shortly, stay tuned!
The Proteas sacked Durban and today the Kiwis sealed the Centurion and more importantly they managed to level the T20I series 1-1. You have got to give the credit to the Black Caps today as they have bounced back after a defeat and notched a comprehensive victory by 32 runs. It was an all-round performance by them both with the bat and the ball. Their openers did their job and were supported by the middle and lower middle order that helped NZ post a good total of 177 but they knew the job was only half done. Their bowlers didn't disappoint them and strike very early in the innings and sent both the African openers back cheaply. The spin duos, McCullum and Sodhi along with the speedster, McClenaghan scalped two wickets each while Milne and Neesham who was good with the bat also took a wicket to their names.
Play and a miss! Back of a length around off, Abbott goes hard at it, but fails miserably to put his bat to the ball. A dot ball to end the innings. New Zealand win by 32 runs.
Full and on the stumps, Abbott makes room and slaps it between the non-striker and the mid off fielder for a boundary. Too late to make any difference for the Proteas.
A short delivery which has been pulled away by Rabada for a single.
Abbott drives the length delivery through mid on for a single.
