That is all we have for you from the fourth game of this series and just one last game to go. India have already sealed the series and will be looking to end on a high. West Indies will be playing for pride and that game will be on 7th of August at 8 pm IST (2.30 pm GMT). Do join us early for the build up. Till then, goodbye and cheers!
Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper says that it was pleasing how they played this game especially since it was not easy and they did well to reach a good total. Credits the bowlers for exploiting the conditions well and keeping the pressure by taking wickets. Says that with a batting line-up like what West Indies have, it is never easy to set a target. When asked about Avesh, he says that they do understand his talent and know what quality he has. Goes on to say that anyone can have a couple of bad games but they will always back their players and give them enough opportunities to try and prove themselves. Ends by thanking the crowd for their support and says there is another game to go.
Avesh Khan is the PLAYER OF THE MATCH for his brilliant spell with the ball. He says that he is feeling good after this game as he did not bowl well in the last few games but he stick to his hard lengths in this game and he got the right results. Tells that he has the backing of the team management and adds that they wanted him to make a strong comeback and he is happy with his performance and looking forward to doing well in the last game. Informs that it was stopping a bit off the surface and applauds the crowd for their support throughout this game and the series.
Nicholas Pooran, the skipper of West Indies says that India got to a flying start and they bowled well to come back in the game. Says that they could have chased down the total if they had built partnerships but that did not happen. When asked about his run out he says that it is not nice get to a start and then get run out. Says that it is a learning experience for the whole team. When asked about Dominic Drakes, he says that he is glad he is taking his opportunity and even performed well in the previous game. He also mentions Akeal Hosein and says that he has been doing really well for them. Congratulates India and says that they played well and that they need to learn from them. Says that they need to prepare well for the last game and take the opportunity to win. Admits that they still don’t have all the pieces in place and they need to work things out before the World Cup.
Time for the Presentation.
Earlier in the game, India got to a big total after they displayed their aggressive batting approach yet again quite convincingly. Almost all India batters contributed with Akeal Hosein and Joseph bowling decently for the Windies. However, just like in the batting department, Indian bowers also worked as a team and powered India to series win here at Florida.
India were absolutely clinical with the ball. There were a lot of questions before the game about Avesh Khan’s place in the Indian playing XI and the young man has answered all those questions with the ball in this game. He got two early wickets in the Powerplay and then there was a big misunderstanding between Pooran and Mayers that gifted India a big wicket of the West Indies skipper. Indian bowlers then, never let the Windies get back in this game as Arshdeep Singh, Bishnoi and Axar Patel along with the experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar all did their job perfectly as India completed a convincing performance with the ball.
West Indies had a tough task in front of them at the halfway mark. However, they do have a strong and powerful batting line-up and they would have fancied their chances of chasing down this total. They came out all guns blazing and went onto score 61 runs in the Powerplay. The problem though was they lost three wickets in that phase and continued to lose wickets at regular intervals throughout their innings. Most of the batters got off to starts but no one really made it count and in the end, they folded out for just 132.
India seal the series with a dominating win! They had a good total on the board but they still needed to bowl well as the pitch was quite flat and the boundaries on this ground are pretty short. The Indian bowlers executed their plans perfectly and in the end, West Indies have fallen well short of the target.
