Live Cricket Score - New Zealand vs South Africa updates
AB de Villiers is adjudged the Man of the Match for his responsible knock with the bat. That's all we got from this match. We look forward to your company on Friday for the second ODI at 0300 IST. Cheers!!!
Comfortable win for South Africa to go 1-0 up in the 3-match ODI series. It wasn't a chase well planned by them as the visitors lost a couple of early wickets. Amla and Rossouw stuck around for a while but then got out, leaving South Africa in some spot of bother on 4/97. But then the skipper, AB de Villiers took the charge of the chase and along with his partner JP Duminy threaded an unbeaten 139-run stand to steer his side home. New Zealand were poor in their batting which mainly is the cause of this defeat. An area they will like to work on before the second ODI.

Rebuilding going on at the moment for South Africa. The hosts are slightly ahead in this game but cannot afford to relax. AB de Villiers we all know is well capable of changing the course of the game and he has got an able partner in JP Duminy at the other end. The required run rate still ain't a problem for the Proteas.

New Zealand strike at the right time and remove Hashim Amla as he was looking good. South Africa were trying to rebuild after the early loss of wickets but they've slipped further down. de Villiers is the key now for the Proteas. Duminy has joined the South African skipper. Captain McCullum using his bowlers well. Game on now!

As the partnership was blossoming between Hashim Amla and Rilee Rossouw, the Kiwis struck back. They would like to see the back of both the current batsmen as soon as possible, as they are capable of taking the game away from them.

After a couple of early hiccups, South Africa have done well not to lose any more wicket. Hashim Amla has taken time to get his eyes in and is really supported nicely by Rilee Rossouw. From the South African point of view, they will like this partnership to continue while New Zealand need to keep taking wickets to stay in contention as they are not defending a big total.

South Africa lost du Plessis as their second wicket when he tried to pull a short ball off Trent Boult. New Zealand have kept tight lines and lengths and have applied the early pressure. Rossouw and Amla are looking good and have given their side a decent start in the Mandatory Powerplay.

Quinton de Kock hit the first two balls of the chase for a boundary and tried to take South Africa off to a flier. However, his innings was cut short by Trent Boult in the second over and since then it has been quite slow going for the Proteas.
