The World Cup-winning captain of Australia, Aaron Finch starts by saying that this victory is huge. Tells that he is very proud of his boys and admits that they had their backs to the wall before the tournament started. Calls David Warner outstanding and says that it's hard to understand that people wrote him off. Terms Adam Zampa as a super player and further says that the leggie is the Player of the Tournament for him. Praises Mitchell Marsh for the way he started with the bat and put pressure on the Kiwis. Also talks about the contributions from Matthew Wade and Marcus Stoinis in the semi-final.
Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand, talks about his innings and says that they were trying to get a platform as the surface was holding up. Calls Australia a fantastic side and praises them for the way they chased down the target. Adds that at the halfway stage, they made every effort to get a competitive total. Tells that Australia didn't give them an inch but he is proud of his team for the way they operated in this tournament. Mentions that the guys were very committed and they adapted quite well to the different challenges. Admits that there were some high hopes coming in, so they are feeling it a bit. Further says that there are only two possible outcomes and it's a shame they couldn't pull it off this evening.
DAVID WARNER IS AWARDED THE PLAYER OF THE TOURNAMENT! He scored 289 runs at a sizzling strike rate of 146.7 in this edition. The Australian opener says that it was all about going back to the basics and he managed to do that. Tells that this win is right up there with 2015 (50-over World Cup win) and praises his teammates and support staff. Shares that he is always pumped and wanted to put up a spectacle in the final. Admits that there were nerves but he is glad that the players delivered.
MITCHELL MARSH IS THE PLAYER OF THE MATCH! He has a big smile on his face, says that he has no words to describe his feelings. Talks about batting at number 3 and shares that the coaching staff came up with this plan during the tour of West Indies and he grabbed it with both hands. On hitting his first ball for a six in the final, Marsh replies that there wasn't a lot of thinking behind that, he just tried to play his game and register his presence. Calls it an unbelievable feeling.
Justin Langer, the proud coach of Australia, comes up for a chat. Says that this is a special group of players. Adds that getting back together as a group felt quite good. Tells that they knew how much talent they had as a group and says that when they played in West Indies and Bangladesh, they had a few missing pieces and Mitchell Marsh took one of those pieces. Shares that they tried to have fun in the bio-bubble to keep the stress away. Praises Adam Zampa by saying that his bowling puts a smile on his face. About Josh Hazlewood, Langer says that he has been in sublime form and signs off by calling it a team effort from the Aussies.
Glenn Maxwell comes up for a quick word and calls it perfect. Tells that it was nice to be out there and hit the winning runs. Adds that Zampa has been a superstar in the shorter formats and he has seen his growth. Adam Zampa, the wonder kid for Australia in this tournament, shares that he bowled to his strength. Tells that he knew the pitch will be on the slower side. Mentions that they won quite a few tosses and he got the chance to bowl with a dry ball. States that his plan always was to pick wickets. Thanks the support staff and calls it their win as well.
Steven Smith's turn to have a word. Smudge says that this trophy has eluded them for a while and it means a lot to win it. Praises Warner for the way he regained his form in the tournament and says that his stand with Marsh was the key in this chase. Josh Hazelwood joins and says that starting well in the Powerplay was the key and the batters chased it quite well. He praises Williamson for the way he batted and calls him a class player.
Pat Cummins says that he is feeling pretty pumped and once they go back home, this feeling will sink in. Shares that playing in the Indian T20 League helped them adapt quite quickly to the conditions here. Mitchell Starc also has a word and says that the build-up to the competition wasn't the best but they clicked at the right time. Praises Zampa for the way he bowled in the tournament and adds that his bowling made the pacers very relaxed.
Matthew Wade is down for a chat. Says that this is a huge moment for them and adds that a lot of people wrote them off. Shares that they felt really confident coming into this game and praises Warner and Marsh for the way they batted. Marcus Stoinis joins in and says that this group of boys, they love each other and he is proud of them. He is very happy for Marsh.

An evening to forget for New Zealand. Their bowling was not up to the mark. Trent Boult was at his best but the other bowlers were not switched on. Usually, the Kiwis used to gain control in the middle overs but both Ish Sodhi and Mitchell Santner failed to provide that as they found it difficult against the attacking instinct of Warner and Marsh. They needed regular wickets to have a say in this chase but that never happened and New Zealand ended up losing yet another ICC final. A big heartbreak for them and Kane Williamson, who played a special knock earlier in the evening to take the Blackcaps to a challenging total.
Chasing a target of 173 in a final always brings plenty of pressure. Losing your captain cheaply compounds that pressure. Aaron Finch was removed early from the scene and New Zealand had tasted blood. But what followed next was a stupendous counter-attacking stand worth 92 runs off 59 balls. David Warner extended his newly-found form, Mitchell Marsh partnered him in the best possible way and Australia's investment in him at number 3 has paid rich dividends. Their partnership almost put the chase to bed but Warner's wicket allowed New Zealand a slight opening. However, Marsh continued to be relentless and along with Glenn Maxwell, he made sure that the Kangaroos jump over the finish line to lift the trophy.
In this edition of the T20 World Cup, no one gave Australia a chance. The subcontinent conditions and Australia's perennial issues against spinners - You won't blame anyone for not having them as one of the favourites. But, Australia are known for their 'Never Say Die' attitude and they have once again vindicated that. They have been champions for multiple occasions in the 50-over format but the T20 World Cup trophy eluded them since its inception. They've finally got hold of it and winning it in alien conditions makes this success even more special. Kudos to them and the duo of Aaron Finch and Justin Langer. They have brought back the glory days of Australia. The champs are back!
