Melbourne:
Australian pace spearhead Brett Lee has undergone a right elbow surgery and will have to wear a brace for the next six weeks before undergoing an intensive rehabilitation, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Thursday.
"Brett had surgery in Sydney yesterday to repair a damaged ligament in his right elbow joint," CA medical officer Dr Trefor James said.
"He will be required to use an elbow brace for a period of approximately six weeks and then commence more intensive rehabilitation," he added.
James said Lee will be monitored and his return to the bowling would depend on his progress assessed by the medical staff of the board.
"His return to bowling will be determined in due course as he is regularly assessed by the surgeon and Cricket Australia's medical staff," James said.
