London:
Sanath Jayasuriya may make a comeback for Sri Lanka in the ODI tournament against England after opener Upul Tharanga was caught in an alleged doping scandal.
Jayasuriya (41) told the Daily Mirror that if called, he will be ready to play for the national side. ""If I get the call from the national selectors, I am ready to take the guard. I always place my country above everything else. Whenever I was given the chance, I always gave hundred percent," he said in an interview.
The aggressive south-paw will turn 42 on June 30 and is the oldest active player in international cricket. Despite retiring from Test cricket in 2007 and playing his last ODI in 2009, Jayasuriya remains confident of being capable of performing well.
