Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly will be approaching 37 when he leads Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, but KKR coach John Buchanan feels its the "inner call" and not the age which help the cricketer continue his stint.

"It will be solely his (Ganguly's) decision to continue with the KKR. Sourav is the best judge of himself.

"It doesn't matter whether you are 37 or 27. It basically depends on the inner call, if you are really interested to play with the same intensity," Buchannan said.

Buchanan will conduct a three-day selection trial for the KKR from January 5-7, in which some promising players including former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin's son Ashaduddin will participate.

"The idea is to shortlist the players who would be ideal for Twenty20 cricket," Buchanan said.

Buchannan, who have also coached Australia cricket team, feels failure of top-order batsmen and inexperienced bowling are responsible for the poor show by the world champions.

Buchanan said its the responsibility of the selectors and the players to identify the problems plaguing Australian cricket.

"It has been systemic and that has been the case for some period of time but while things were going well people chose to ignore them," he said.

Hoping a quick turnaround for the Aussies, he said "I feel they will be soon back where they were. I think the real upside here, the real upside for everybody, is that its a fantastic opportunity for administrators, coaches, players to stop and look at whats actually happening, and not just the immediacy of the results," the coach said.
