The ball rushes onto hit his front pads and the umpire raises his finger. England take the review and the UltraEdge shows no bat involved. 14.4 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Ollie Pope looks to defend with hard hands and pays the price. Ravindra Jadeja darts it in fuller around off stump, looking to turn it away, Pope presses forward to get to the pitch of the ball but just jabs at the ball. The outside edge is found and Rohit Sharma at first slip takes a brilliant low catch to his right with both hands. Pope perishes and the Indian spinners making big inroads here.  58/2

35.3 OUT! CAUGHT! One too many sweeps from Joe Root and he pays the ultimate price. Ravindra Jadeja darts this one in at 98.6 clicks and on a length at the stumps. Root gets across a bit and gets inside the line to sweep it fine but the length isn't all that full. The ball takes the top edge of Root's willow and lobs up around short fine leg where Jasprit Bumrah reverse-cups it with ease. Both set batters back in the hut and England are in trouble now.  125/5

32.4 OUT! TIMBER! There's the wicket India wanted and Axar Patel has provided the breakthrough with a cracking delivery. Axar comes in and slides this one in on a fuller length onto middle and leg. Jonny Bairstow is drawn forward but it isn't all that full and Bairstow doesn't get to the pitch of the ball. The ball grips and turns away sharply past the outside edge to castle into the off stump. Axar is delighted and Bairstow has to walk back after a very good start.  121/4

64.3 OUT! TIMBER! It's all over for England. They are all out for 246 on the first day after winning the toss and batting first. Jasprit Bumrah delivers a beauty to get rid of Ben Stokes. He bowls the ball up with pace and makes it move away very late. Ben Stokes steps down the track looking to make room and is bamboozled by the late swing on the ball, completely playing all over it. Change of pace from the experienced Indian fast bowler as he rolls his fingers over the ball and bowls it just outside the off stump, drawing Rehan Ahmed out for a drive and the change of pace doing the rest, gets a feather of an inside edge of Rehan Ahmed's bat back to KS Bharat behind the stumps who jumps in forward and catches the ball low. 55 OUT! TIMBER! What a ball to end the short but entertaining and crucial innings of Tom Hartley. Ravindra Jadeja gets his man. Fires on right next to the bat on the off stump line, getting to it turn back in a long way and Tom Hartley plays all over it, in the end giving the ball the space to sneak through the bat and hit the middle stump. Tom Hartley has to walk back to the hut.  193/8

Root bowls this one quite fuller onto off and middle at over 90 clicks, Jaiswal looks to get on the front foot and drive but is late on it and ends up chipping it off the inner half of the bat. Root leaps up over his right shoulder and takes a sharp catch with both hands. England with a big wicket early on but can they build on it?  123/2

12.2 OUT! CAUGHT! Just a rush of blood from the Indian skipper and he pays a hefty price. Ben Stokes keeps mid off and mid on up as Jack Leach tosses this one right up around the off stump and invites the big shot. Sharma skips down the track and looks to heave it over long on but is beaten in the flight a bit. The ball gets skied up over mid off where Sharma's opposite number, Stokes runs back and reverse-cups it well. England do get their first wicket and Leach gets Rohit Sharma for a fifth time in Test cricket.  80/1

34.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Soft dismissal but Tom Hartley has his first Test wicket. This is tossed up on middle and leg, Shubman Gill looks to take the front leg out and flick it over mid-wicket but doesn't quite get to the pitch of the ball. The ball gets heaved off the inner half of the bat to the right of mid-wicket where Ben Duckett almost doesn't pick it up and just instinctively moves to his right and grabs it with soft hands. Gill never looked in full flow and that wicket will give Hartley a bundle of confidence.  159/3

64.5 OUT! CAUGHT! Would you believe it? KL Rahul has thrown it away! A real drag down from Tom Hartley as he bowls it short over the stumps but bowls it slower at 86 clicks. The ball grips a bit and Rahul goes on the back foot to hoick it away. Rahul can't quite hold his shape and has to force it toward deep mid-wicket. Rehan Ahmed takes a pressure catch in the deep and Rahul departs 14 short of his hundred. A big wicket this for England.  288/5

52.3 OUT! CAUGHT! Rehan Ahmed wins the reward of being patient and gets his man. Shreyas Iyer walks back into the hut! Pitched up ball on the leg stump line and turning in as it is the googly, asking Shreyas Iyer to go for a big shot. Shreyas Iyer launches a slog but does not time it as well as he would have liked, in the end hits the ball straight down the throat of Tom Hartley standing at deep mid-wicket who takes an easy catch to dismiss Shreyas Iyer. 119.3 OUT! LBW! Given! Ravindra Jadeja doesn't look happy and takes a review! Joe Root tosses the ball up on the fourth stump line from around the wicket angle and gets the ball to shape in through the arm. Ravindra Jadeja takes the front foot out to block it but gets a hit on the front leg with the bat very close to the ball. The umpire raises his finger and in the review, the UltraEdge shows that the ball might be in contact with bat and pad at the same time and it is too hard to determine one way or another and the third Umpire has to go with the onfield call. The Ball Tracking shows that the ball is pitched in line, impact Umpire's call, and the wickets are Umpire's call as well. 88.2 OUT! LBW! Appeal and given! KS Bharat does review it though. Joe Root bowls this one much flatter and on a nagging length around off stump. KS Bharat looks to fetch and sweep by leaning on but is beaten by the turn and the low bounce. The ball goes on to hit the back leg. Nothing on UltraEdge and three reds come up on Ball Tracking. Joe Root yet again gets the job done for his side and KS Bharat falls while looking to attack. India lead by 110 runs with 4 wickets in hand now.  356/6

90.3 OUT! RUN OUT! Oh, that is catastrophic! Joe Root bowls it slower and shorter, turning it into middle. Ravichandran Ashwin rocks back and dabs it out in front of short cover and sets off for the single. His partner though, Ravindra Jadeja, is ball watching and is late to realize that there's a single on offer. Jadeja does start to come for the single but soon realizes that he won't be getting to the other end and turns right back. Ashwin is also stranded at his partner's end and Tom Hartley picks up the ball and throws it at the keeper's end where Ben Foakes whips off the bails and for the first time in the game, England are able to pick up a couple of wickets in quick succession.  358/7

121 OUT! TIMBER! It's all over for India as they are bowled out for 436! A short ball outside the line of the off stump, gets it to turn back sharp into the stumps. Axar Patel stays back and looks to cut it hard but the lack of bounce on the ball beats his bat and rushes onto the middle stump. Axar Patel goes for a well-made 44. Jasprit Bumrah looks to take a big stride forward and block the ball but in the end the sharp turn beats him between bat and pads and crashes into the stumps. Ashwin comes from around the wicket to the right-hander and gives this one a bit more air bowling it at 88 clicks, full and around off. Ashwin gets this one to dip beautifully and Zak Crawley gets a faint outside edge as he looks to block off the front foot. 18.5 OUT! TIMBER! Jasprit Bumrah does get the last laugh here and he is absolutely pumped up. What a gem of a ball from Bumrah and he shows his class here. Bumrah steams in and pitches this one a bit further up around the off stump at 142.4 clicks and gets the ball to swing back in a long way. Ben Duckett goes for the booming cover drive but is beaten well through the gate and the ball crashes into the off stump, knocking it out of the ground. 102.1 OUT! TIMBER! Jasprit Bumrah outsmarts Ollie Pope on this occasion to bring an end to the England innings! Bowls a slower ball, pitched right up on the off stump line. Ollie Pope looks to play the reverse scoop as he expected it to be a fast yorker but misses the ball completely due to the lack of pace on the ball. The ball hits the off stump and India ends the innings. A superb innings from the England vice-captain, Ollie Pope comes to an end.  420/10

Tossed the ball up, slow and gets a good drift into the left hander. The ball pitches on the middle stump line and turns away enough to beat the outside edge of Ben Stokes's bat who is stuck on the crease looking to block the ball but he is beaten and the ball goes on to hit the off stump. Huge wicket for India under the circumstances as England still trail by 27 runs!  163/5

67 OUT! BOWLED'EM! One keeps low and Ben Foakes has to walk back. Axar Patel bowls it with a high-arm action and angles it in flatter from outside off. The ball comes in with the angle and Foakes looks to back away and push it out on the off side but the ball stays low and sneask under the willow to crash into the stumps. Some respite for Axar who went for plenty runs and even dropped a catch but has now broken the vital stand. Foakes has done his job though.  275/6

82.3 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Jasprit Bumrah gets India the break through on the morning of Day 4 and its Rehan Ahmed who walks back into the hut! Hits th elength hard and gets the ball to move away after pitching from outside the off stump line. Rehan Ahmed looks to stay at the crease and runs his hands over the ball but in the end could only get a feather back to KS Bharat who grabs an easy catch.
