The aggressive field setting of Lions captain Chris Cairns in the earlier overs of keeping three slips and gully in the twenty20 match also paid off as the captain of Superstars Stuart Law gave a catch in the slips to Andrew Hall in the bowling of Tuffy in the sixth over.

Fine innings by Superstars's batsman Rajagopal Sathish (38 in 26 balls) and Russel Arnold (35 in 30) could not rescue their team.

Earlier, the Lions opened with their left-right combination of of Matthew Elliott and Vincent and got off to a good start. Elliot scored 27 runs of 21 balls.

Lions batsman Dinesh Mongia scored a dashing 47 runs of just 29 balls which included eight fours and one six. The Lions' hundred came in the 12th over with Mongia treating the well attended Sardar Patel stadium with some brilliant stroke plays.

Superstars' new induction Nantie Hayward was working some great pace and peaked up four wickets giving 21 runs in four overs. While Shabbir Ahmed claimed two wickets and gave away 30 runs.
