WILLIAM PORTERFIELD (Ireland skipper) says they were confident at the half-way stage. Adds that they need to go back and regroup everything. Further says they now need to win the next two games and give themselves a chance.
SULTAN AHMED (Victorious Oman skipper) thanks the Almighty. Adds that their dug-out is very excited and he is speechless at the moment. Further says they lost the toss and wanted to restrict Ireland under 150 and feels they had the potential to chase this down. Ends by saying if they manage to beat Bangladesh and Netherlands, they will go through.
AMIR ALI, MAN OF THE MATCH thanks the almighty first up. Adds he was trying to get boundaries almost every over. Further says his coaches has given him a lot of encouragement and that has certainly paid off.
Kevin O'Brien, McBrine and Sorensen snared 2 wickets each but Oman kept their cool to emerge victorious in their first game ever in a World Cup event. Dharamsala witnessed a couple of high-voltage game today and the crowd will leave with smile on their face! Presentation, next up!
Ireland have themselves to blame for such a sorry result. The batted pretty well in the first innings to post a score of 150-plus but failed with their bowling. Plenty of wides and no balls cost them the match which was quite visible in the final over. Ireland will be pretty upset with such a below-par performance as they let their opposition with an easy win.
What a match, what a contest! Oman have caused an upset over the Irish. Maqsood and Khawar gave them a dream start with a 69-run opening stand. But wickets in quick succession made them lose momentum. Amir Ali was the hero of the day smashing 32 runs of just 17 balls which proved enough to take them home.
NO BALL AND OMAN WIN BY 2 WICKETS! Whole dug-out is on the field and they are celebrating. Well, they have got every reason to do so. Coming to the ball, full toss on middle, Ansari swings his bat as he misses it. Niall O'Brien behind the stumps too fails to collect it. The ball goes through his legs for a boundary. Sheer drama!
MUNIS ANSARI is the next man in.
OUT! There is still life in this contest! The set man departs! Full length ball on off, Ali looks to chip it over covers but gets a faint edge behind to the keeper. The keeper and the umpire goes up in an appeal and the umpire raises his finger. Replays show there wasn't any edge. Still, nothing can be done. 3 needed from 3!
