The International Cricket Council (ICC) warned Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni over a possible breach of its marketing regulations, media reports have claimed.
A recent advertisement of his endorsement of an electronic products brand in a newspaper has not gone down well with the International Cricket Council.
The ICC has dashed off a letter that this advertisement could be in breach of its ambush marketing laws. As per ICC ambush marketing laws, no participating player may endorse a brand which is a competitor of an official sponsor, seven days prior to the start of an ICC event. So far, there does not seem to be any communication to the skipper on this.
In a recent advertisement, Dhoni was seen endorsing a product that is a competition to an official sponsor of the World Cup. As per the ambush marketing rules, that is not permitted from seven days prior to the start of the Championship.
