Kolkata:

Former India captain Sourav Ganguly will attend the the Annual General Meeting of the Cricket Association of Bengal through Mohammedan Sporting Club, though he has joined another club to represent the CAB working committee.

"He will take part in the CAB AGM on July 31 through Mohammedan Sporting. It's no issue that he represents another club (Bhukailash Sporting Club) in the CAB working committee," his elder brother Snehasish said.

"Everybody wants Ganguly to come and join the cricket administration for the betterment of Bengal cricket," he said.

The iconic Bengal cricketer had on Monday joined Bhukailash Sporting Club for representation in the CAB working committee for the next season.

Bhukailash will be represented in the AGM by its general secretary Mintu Das.

"He will have voting rights from Mohammedan Sporting but in the working committee, Sourav will represent us," Das said.

Asked why Ganguly was not representing their club in the AGM, Das replied, "As per our club's regulation, only the club general secretary can take part in the AGM, so I am representing the club in CAB. I would not have any objection if Ganguly represented us in the AGM."

A senior CAB official ridiculed the move and said, "It looks odd when you have affiliation with two clubs. It seems you are not clear in your stance."

Having retired from international cricket last November, Ganguly had expressed his desire to get into cricket administration that had led to speculations that he was eyeing the BCCI plum post in 2014.

But having failed to manage the required numbers in the CAB, the legendary cricketer opted not to oppose the Jagmohan Dalmiya panel this year. The Dalmiya camp has already decided to retain the same panel for another term.
