Five arrested for cricket betting
The Krishnalanka Police arrested five persons for allegedly indulging in betting on the World Cup match between India and England in Vijayawada on Sunday.

The Krishnalanka Police arrested five persons for allegedly indulging in betting on the World Cup match between India and England in Vijayawada on Sunday.
Police also seized Rs 2.10 lakh cash, 12 cellphones, a TV and a laptop from them.
Deputy Commissioner of Police B Ravindranadh Babu told reporters they were taking bets on today's match at Bangalore.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police S T Ramesh in a release said raids on "anti-social elements" indulging in cricket betting in the state would continue unabated till the World Cup matches come to a conclusion.
Action will also be initiated to book them under the Karnataka Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Drug Offenders, Gamblers, Goondas, Immoral Traffic Offenders and Slum Grabbers Act 1985, he said.
Under the Act, a person can be detained and straightaway sent to prison for three months initially which can be extended on the ratification of the High Court.
