Bresnan fined for snatching cap from umpire

England pacer Tim Bresnan has been fined 7.5 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire's decision during the third ODI against India at Mohali.
The charge had been laid by the on-field umpires Billy Bowden and Sudhir Asnani and third umpire S. Ravi and related to an incident at the end of the 18th over when the fast bowler snatched his cap from Asnani after finishing his fifth over.
Bresnan was found to have breached Article 2.1.3 of the code which relates to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision during an international match", which also includes snatching the cap from the umpire. Bresnan pleaded not guilty to the charge.
"The umpires deserve the utmost respect not only because they do a difficult job in the middle but also because millions of budding and aspiring cricketers watch every move of the players. This makes all the international cricketers more responsible and accountable for their actions, particularly in their dealings with the umpires in various match situations," match referee Roshan Mahanama said.
The hearing took place at the end of the match which was attended by all the umpires, the player, England coach Andy Flower and England team manager Phil Neale.
