He comes over the wicket, serves this on a hard length and on the fifth stump line, gets it to angle away. Jacob Bethell gets half forward but then realises this is not that full and just has a poke at it with his head falling over. Gets a thin outside edge behind, where Alex Carey makes no mistake. 97.1 OUT! CAUGHT AND BOWLED! Oh, that is a special effort from Michael Neser and that marks the end of a marathon knock from Joe Root. Neser goes a touch wider of the crease and bowls it short at the batter. Root looks to step across and get inside the line but gets cramped up and awkwardly plays at it. The top edge is found and the ball lobs up to the leg side. Neser scampers across and puts in a brilliant dive to pouch it with both hands. Root walks back to a standing ovation from the SCG crowd as he departs for 160 (242).  384/9

47.4 OUT! CAUGHT! Back of a length around off, Harry Brook chases this but fails to get right behind it, finds an outside edge that is taken well and sharp by Steve Smith diving to his left. Harry Brook departs after a good knock.  226/4

50.5 Around that nagging length, just wide of off, Ben Stokes doesn't commit fully and prods in front half-heartedly. The ball goes really close to his bat and is taken by Alex Carey behind the stumps. Muted appeals from Carey and the slips cordon, Starc joins in late as well. Nothing by the umpire but Steve Smith has heard something and he sends this upstairs. A spike as the ball is next to the bat on UltraEdge and the English skipper has to walk back for a duck off 11 balls.  229/5

74.4 OUT! CAUGHT! The golden arm of Marnus Labuschagne has done the trick for the Aussies here just before the Lunch break. Short and wide of off, Jamie Smith backs away and throws his bat at it. Doesn't get it away from the middle of his bat and hits this straight to Scott Boland at deep cover. Joe Root on the other end is livid with an absolute brainfade moment from Jamie Smith. He walks back on 46.  323/6

92 OUT! EDGE AND GONE! A lovely piece of bowling from Michael Neser and finally, Australia get rid of Will Jacks. Lovely seam position from Neser, bowling it on a good length and around middle. This one angles in and Jacks looks to clip it away but Neser gets the ball to seam away off the deck and squares up Jacks. The outside edge is found and the ball travels towards gully where Cameron Green takes a good low catch and Jacks has to depat after a fighting knock of 27 (62).  375/7

94.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Cameron Green gets a wicket and turns back to see whether he has overstepped again or not. It is all clear and he gets his first wicket of the game. Green lands it on a good length on off and gets it to just nip away. Brydon Carse hangs back and has a little dab at it, edging it down to the right of the keeper. Alex Carey swiftly moves across and gobbles it up and England are now 8 down for 382.  382/8

97.3 OUT! TIMBER! Michael Neser goes bang, bang and wraps up proceedings rather quickly. Neser bowls it fuller and around off, gets the ball to nip back in sharply. Josh Tongue looks to play down the lie but is beaten all ends up and the ball knocks over the stumps, going past the blade. Tongue departs for a two-ball duck and England are bowled out for 384.  384/10

67.1 OUT! LBW! Bethell provides the breakthrough! At long last, after surviving eons of chances, Head finds a way to get out. He was itching to go after the left-arm spinner and Bethell did well to keep it full and straight. Head went for the sweep and for once, he missed a straight ball. Was hit right in front of the sticks and the umpire raised his finger after a thought. Head probably knew he was a goner but took the review for the sake of it. Hitting the middle of leg and middle, says Ball Tracking. The SCG stands up as one to applaud for Head. England will believe they have got an opening now. Head departs for a magnaminous 163 (166), Australia are 288/4 and still trail by 96 runs.  288/4

12.2 OUT! PLUMB! This has been the undoing of Jake Weatherald repeatedly in the series so far. Inswinging yorker, on middle and leg, Jake Weatherald fails to get his bat down in time and gets rapped on the front foot. A loud appeal from Stokes and Co. and the umpire acknowledges it with a raised finger. Jake Weatherald sends this upstairs. Ball Tracker shows two reds and an orange with the ball just clipping the side of leg but this is all England needed once this was given out. Australia saves the review but loses Jake.  57/1

31 OUT! CAUGHT! Ben Stokes gets the better of Marnus Labuschagne and he has to walk back just 2 runs shy of his half century. Stokes bowls a fullish length delivery in the channel, but a touch wider and gets the ball to seam away. Labuschagne is drawn into the drive and plays away from the body, getting it off the outer half of the blade and straight to gully. Jacob Bethell over there, crouches a bit and takes a sharp catch around his head and England finally manage to break this big stand. Labuschagne is disappointed but Stokes does not say a word. NOT. A. WORD. He just gives Marnus a stare, who looks disconsolate. If looks could kill...  162/2

54.4 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Success for Brydon Carse as he sends the nightwatchman back to the dressing room. Good length, around off, shaping it a hint away from the right-hander. Michael Neser stays leg side to it and pokes at it away from his body. Gets it edged off the outside and Jamie Smith behind the stumps makes no mistake and holds onto it. Michael Neser departs for 24 off 90.  234/3

128.5 OUT! EDGED AND GONE! Finally, finally, England get rid of Australia's batting maestro. This is the fourth time that Tongue has dismissed Smith. Root taps on Smith's shoulder, appreciating his knock. Back of a length, nipping away from the off pole, in the channel, Steve Smith tries to defend it by covering the line, but gets a thin outside edge back to Jamie Smith, who takes a straightforward catch behind the stumps. Steve Smith is received by a huge applause as he walks back to the dugout. The hometown boy soaks up the applause as he strides off the SCG to salute the end of Test ton number 37. 138 off 220 from Steve Smith. His marathon knock comes to an end. Australia are 544/8, leading by 160 runs.  544/8

83.4 OUT! LBW! An appeal and given! Brydon Carse gets Usman Khawaja with a full toss but the latter has reviewed it immediately. Carse looks to go full and straight and swing it back into the left-hander but ends up bowling a full toss that dips on the batter. Khawaja looks to clip it away but is a bit taken aback and plays all around it, getting hit on the pads. The third umpire is called in and there's no bat involved as confirmed by RTS and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. Khawaja has to walk back for 17 (49) and he gets a standing ovation from the SCG crowd as this might well be his last Test innings for Australia.  339/5

88.1 OUT! CAUGHT! Oh, the plan works again for Alex Carey and for a second Test running, Carey gets out in a similar fashion. Josh Tongue stays around the wicket and bowls it full on the pads, angling it down leg. Carey just gets inside the line a bit more and flicks it straight to the man at a deepish leg slip. Jacob Bethell takes a sharp catch right around his face and the dangerous Carey has to walk back for 16 (13) and Australia are now 6 down for 366.  366/6

106.3 OUT! CAUGHT! The short-ball ploy finally works out for England but Cameron Green will be so disappointed with that shot. Brydon Carse bangs it in short and angles it at the batter, Green leans across to get inside the line but doesn't followthrough on the pull and ends up spooning it high over the mid-wicket region. Ben Duckett in the deep doesn't initially pick it up but then rushes in and settles himself to take a simple catch. Green walks out after making 37 (64) and he will feel he's left a fair few runs out there. Carse gets his third wicket and stamps his authority as the second-highest wicket taker in this series behind Mitchell Starc.  437/7

133 OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Wonder how this bloke didn't play all the Tests Down Under. Number 3 for Tongue off an absolute ripper of a delivery. Too good for a tailender to deal with to be very honest. He slants the ball into the southpaw, pitching it on a fractionally fuller length. It lands right on the seam and on one of those indentations around the middle stump line, and nips in prodigiously. Starc drags the bat in front to block, but plays over the line and the ball beats his inside edge to crash into the leg stump. Mitchell Starc departs on 5 (14) and Australia are 564/9, with a lead of 180 runs.  564/9

133.5 OUT! EDGED AND CAUGHT! A wicket for Jacks and a golden duck for Boland. Pushed through, flat and around off, spinning in with some bounce. Scott Boland is neither fully committed on the front foot, nor his weight has transferred on the back foot, just somewhere in between and he pokes at it. Gets a thick outside edge that goes flat to Harry Brook at first slip. He gathers it safely. AUSTRALIA ARE BOWLED OUT FOR 567, LEADING BY 183 RUNS!  567/10

0.5 OUT! LBW! Starc picks up another wicket in his opening over. Bashes the length hard, does Starc. Around off and it seams back in a touch. Zak Crawley covers the stumps, but decides to offer no shot at it and lets the ball ram onto the flap of the back pad. A massive appeal for LBW by the Aussies in unison, and Ahsan Raza obliges. Zak Crawley walks to Duckett and opts for a review after a chat, more in hope. You are always in danger with no shot offered. Ball Tracking shows the ball is hitting the top of the off pole on the umpire's call. But what was Crawley trying to do here? A perfect start for the Aussies and the worst possible one for the tourists. Zak Crawley frustratingly walks back for 1 (2) and England are 4/1, trailing by 179 runs.  4/1

19.1 OUT! CHOPPED ON! Neser ends Duckett's resistance and he keeps chipping away at the wickets for his side. Again, the technique comes under the scanner here. With the pitch deteriorating and having uneven bounce, playing cross-batted strokes is always a big risk and Duckett does exactly that. Instead of bringing his bat vertically down to block off the back foot, he tries to slash this length ball from outside off that nips back into him and drags it back onto the stumps off the fat inside edge. Too tight a line to cut it away as well. Ben Duckett is frustrated with himself as he was looking so good barring this delivery. He trudges off for 42 off 55 and England are 85/2, trailing by 98 runs.  85/2

84.2 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Just when things started to frustrate the Aussies, Mitchell Starc stood tall and got the breakthrough. Back of a length around off, shaping it away from the left-hander. Jacob Bethell looks to cut this off his back foot but the ball keeps climbing on the batter and it catches an outside edge of his bat. Alex Carey moves a bit to his left and takes a regulation catch to end the marathon knock of Jacob Bethell. Probably a bit too close to the body for a square cut, but nonetheless, it was an immaculate knock of 154 off 265 balls by the 22-year-old. He gets a huge round of applause from the crowd as he trudges back to the dressing room. England are 328/9, leading by 145 runs.  328/9

32 OUT! LBW! Joe Root has been trapped right in front of the stumps. Boland bowls it from wide of the crease, angling it into the batter. Joe Root covers the line, and looks to work it straight but fails to get anything on the ball as he plays all over it. The ball nips back in sharply and goes on to hit Root on his front pad. A loud appeal by the Australians as one and the umpire, Chris Gaffaney, raises his finger. Joe Root, reluctantly, sends this upstairs for a review. But it looks really adjacent. And indeed. Two reds followed by an umpire's call with the ball projected to clip the top of the leg stump. England do not lose a review, but they lose Joe Root on 6 (37). The tourists are 117/3, trailing by 66 runs.  117/3

51.1 OUT! LBW! What a brilliant review for Australia. Beau Webster with a huge breakthrough. Pitched fractionally fuller, spinning in from the rough patch with bounce. Harry Brook is pinned in the crease as he tries to block it straight but gets outfoxed by the prodigious turn into him. Plays over the line and the ball clips the front pad. A huge appeal for LBW, but not given. Beau Webster thinks it is a bit too high, but Carey seems certain and convinces his skipper to take the review. Snicko shows a flat line when the ball is next to the bat and the Ball Tracking comes up with three reds, with the ball projected to smash into the middle and leg stumps. Harry Brook walks back after yet another start and will remain century-less this Ashes. 42 (48) for Brook, and the 102-run partnership is broken. England are 219/4, leading by 36 runs.  219/4

51.3 OUT! HIGH UP AND TAKEN! Beau Webster with an inspired bowling spell. A needless throw of a wicket from Jacks and the Aussies roar back in the game. Lands it fuller, on off, turning in from the rough. Will Jacks gets low and across to slog it over deep mid-wicket, but he loses his shape and his head falls over. Hence, the ball travels off the inside half of the bat to the deep. Cameron Green runs in off the ropes and dives a bit to his left and gathers the dipping ball in his big buckets safely while taking a tumble. The Aussies are ecstatic and rightly so. Webster celebrates again with both arms aloft as his teammates swamp him. Will Jacks departs on a silver duck and from 219/3, England are 219/5.  219/5

64.1 OUT! JAMIE SMITH IS RUN OUT! Another ordinary decision-making by Jamie Smith. He got out playing an uninspired shot in the first innings, against Labuschagne and this time, he has thrown it away through a needless run out. Short pitched, around leg, Jacob Bethell fends this towards Jake Weatherald at square leg and just takes a couple of steps forward but screams 'HANG ON' to his partner. Smith, however, is already halfway down the track to pinch in a single. The throw from Jake Weatherald is sharp and towards the bowler. He actually took an extra split second to pick the right end with Smith struggling big time to retreat back. Marnus Labuschagne gathers this near the stumps and removes the bails in a flash with Jamie Smith way out of the crease. Jamie Smith departs on 26 off 41 and England are 264/6, leading by 83 runs!  264/6

65.2 OUT! CAUGHT! No Lyon or Todd Murphy, no problem, says the offie, Beau Webster. Wicket number 3 for the giant man. Short and on off, turning away from the batter. Ben Stokes hangs onto his back foot and throws his bat at it. Gets an outside edge towards the left of the Aussie skipper at first slip. Smith moves to his left and takes a good reflex catch at first slip to send Ben Stokes back on 1. Probably for one last time on Australian soil.  267/7

Good length, on off, Brydon Carse strides in front to block but the ball holds its line and catches an outside edge of his bat. The ball goes sharply towards the right of Steve Smith at first slip, and the Aussie skipper, as alert as he has been in the cordons over the years, makes no mistake and pouches it. 88.2 OUT! CHIPPED AND TAKEN! Wicket number 31 for Mitchell Starc in this Ashes as he finishes off with a 3-for. Lands it around off, on a good length, and it seemingly kicks up a bit. Josh Tongue tries to crack the drive through the off side, but does not account for the bounce. Chips it straight to short cover where Marnus Labuschagne takes a straightforward catch. 10.3 OUT! STRAIGHT UP AND GONE! Josh Tongue provides the first breakthrough for England. Head's aggressive attempt becomes the reason for his downfall. Josh bangs in a sizzling bumper, angling it into the body. The ball rears up awkwardly as Travis Head looks to take on the pull, but the extra bounce forces a thick top edge that loops high over mid-wicket. Brydon Carse tracks back over his left shoulder, adjusts to the swirl, and settles underneath it to complete a fine catch. Head is gone for 29 off 35, and Australia are 62/1, still needing 98 more.  62/1

14.4 OUT! TOP EDGE AND GONE! Tongue with an important wicket and both the Aussie openers are back in the hut now. A well-directed short ball from Tongue does the trick. It kicks sharply from a length, and with Weatherald pressing forward, he gets himself in a bit of a tangle. He looks to decide on leaving at the very last moment, but he just cannot get his bat out of the way from this rearing delivery. The ball balloons high off the top edge and travels behind towards deep fine leg. Matthew Potts charges in off the ropes and dives forward to take the catch. Another start cut short for Jake Weatherald as he departs for 34 (40). Australia are 71/2, needing 89 more runs. And that will be LUNCH on Day 5!  71/2

23.1 OUT! MARNUS IS RUN OUT! Pinch yourselves because it is real. A needless throw of a wicket and England keep themselves alive in the contest. Tossed up outside off. Labuschagne strides forward to the pitch of the ball and drills it past a diving short extra cover to his right. He instantly calls for the single and charges halfway down, but Carey is ball-watching and doesn’t respond, forcing Marnus to turn back. Potts reacts sharply, moving left from mid off to collect and fire in a flat, simple throw to the keeper. Jamie Smith whips off the bails as Labuschagne dives in vain, and the replays confirm he is miles short of his ground. Marnus Labuschagne is down on his haunches and admonishes himself as he straightaway knew his fate. 37 off 40 for Marnus Labuschagne and Australia are 121/5.  121/5

17.5 OUT! BOWLED! That's a ripper from Jacks! Dishes out a sharp off break that lands around off and spins across into the batter prodigiously off the rough patch. Steve Smith is sucked into the defensive shot on the front foot, but plays all over it as the ball beats the inside edge to rattle the stumps behind. Steve Smith is left stunned at the crease and falls for 12 (12). 22.1 OUT! CHOPPED ON! Josh Tongue keeps troubling the Aussies as he bags his third wicket. Short of a length in the channel outside off. Khawaja hops back and looks to punch on the off side, but there is just a hint of inward deviation. It takes the inside edge and deflects onto the top of the stumps. And that brings the curtain down on Khawaja in the Baggy Green. He receives a standing ovation as the SCG rises to applaud. Marnus Labuschagne walks up to embrace him, gives him a pat on the back, as the crowd gives Khawaja a warm, heartfelt farewell. The veteran gets down on his haunches and kisses the turf before he makes a long walk back to the dressing room for one last time as his Test career draws to a close. Unfortunately, he couldn't make much of an impact in his final Test, and walks back for 6 (7). Australia are 119/4, needing 41 runs.  119/4
