Shuttler PV Sindhu stormed her way into the semifinal of the Macau Open with a straight-game victory over Tsz Ka Chan of Hong Kong on Friday. Sindhu, who is the top seed for the event, beat Chan 21-17, 21-12 in just 29 minutes.
In the first game Sindhu raced to a 4-0 lead but Chan clawed her way back to claim a 17-15 lead. However, the Indian ace won six points on the bounce and won the game 21-17. The second game was far easier for Sindhu as she lead 11-7 at the break. She was soon up 18-11 and wrapped up the second game and the match in quick time. Sindhu will now face Chinese qualifier Qin Jinjing in the semifinal on Saturday.
Speaking after the game coach Pullela Gopichand said, "The victory was very impressive. Chan is no small player and had defeated several top shuttlers in the past. I think Sindhu has a good chance to win the title now."
