About Parupalli Kashyap
Before making his international debut in 2006, P Kashyap represented Andhra Pradesh in the National Junior Open Badminton Championships. In 2006, the year when he made his international debut, he created stir after he upset Przemyslaw Wacha in the pre-quarterfinals of the Hong Kong Open.
In 2008 he made it to the semi-finals of the Dutch Open. In 2009, he finished as the runner-up at the Spanish Open, Thailand International and Toulous Open.
At the 2010 New Delhi Commonwealth Games, P Kashyap finished with a bronze medal.
He qualified for 2012 London Olympics after he got a walkover in the India Open Super Series quarter-final match. He gained the required points after third-seeded Chinese Chen Jin pulled out of the tournament with a wrist injury.
