India's leading shuttler Kidambi Srikanth on Wednesday said his recent China Open Super Series Premier victory was a major confidence booster.
World No. 10 Srikanth clinched his first Super Series title in Fuzhou on November 16 beating legendary Chinese great and two-time Olympic champion Lin Dan in the final.
"Being the first Indian male to win a Super Series is a personal milestone and I hope victories like these act as a confidence booster moving forward. Victories such as these are also the result of the support I have continuously received from my family and coach Gopi sir," said Srikanth, who was felicitated by Chinese sports equipment manufacturer Li-Ning and was also presented with $10,000.
His coach and former All-England champion Pullela Gopichand said: "Srikanth has come a long way and has fought many hardships to emerge as a leading badminton player. A win such as this is always extremely encouraging to the younger generation and I commend Srikanth's efforts on multiple levels."
Srikanth will be next seen in action at the World Super Series Finals in Dubai from December 17-21.
