A semifinal finish at the recent US Open Grand Prix Gold helped Indian shuttler Ajay Jayaram rise two places and return him to the top 20 in the latest badminton world rankings issued on Thursday.
Jayaram was placed at 20th spot with 43673 points, while B Sai Praneeth, who improved his ranking after his maiden Canada Open win, slipped two places to 35th due to his early exit from last week's US Open.
Among other men's singles shuttlers, Srikanth Kidambi, Sameer Verma and HS Prannoy remained unchanged at 11th, 38th and 29th position, respectively.
Anand Pawar, who lost to Jayaram in the US Open quarterfinals, was the biggest gainer with a jump of 16 places to world number 77.
In the women's singles rankings, Saina Nehwal and PV Sindhu managed to hold on to their 5th and 10th spot, respectively.
Rio bound men's doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy remained static at 21 even after their Canada Open win, while women's doubles combination of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa retained thier 21st position.
