The Indo-Russian pair of Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina's women's doubles campaign came to an end in the Australian Open semifinal on Wednesday.

The Indo-Russian pair of Sania Mirza and Elena Vesnina's women's doubles campaign came to an end in the Australian Open semifinal on Wednesday.
The sixth seeded pair lost 6-7, 6-2, 4-6 to the unseeded Russian pair of Svetlana Kuznetsova and Vera Zvonareva after a tough battle of 2 hours 33 minutes.
Sania and Vesnina smashed a massive 47 winners in contrast to 29 by Kuznetsova and Zvonareva but the Indo-Russian duo also made more than double their opponent's unforced errors. They had 51 unforced errors to their names as opposed to 24 by the Russian pair.
Sania and Vesnina had earlier upset second seeds Lisa Raymond and Liezel Huber to make the semis at Melbourne Park.
