Paula Radcliff finally realised her dream of winning a global title.

Helsinki:

Paula Radcliff finally realised her dream of winning a global title. She took the gold in the women's marathon at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki. The world-record holder had failed to finish both the marathon and the 10,000 metres in Athens. However, this time she made no mistakes, winning her first global track title. The 32-year-old clocked two hours, 20 minutes and 57 seconds.
