Gardener ties European 60 metre record
Jason Gardener of Britain tied his own five-year-old European record in the 60 meters, running 6.46 seconds at the Karlsruhe indoors athletics meet.

Jason Gardener of Britain tied his own five-year-old European record in the 60 meters, running 6.46 seconds at the Karlsruhe indoors athletics meet.
Haile Gebrselassie, the two-time Olympic champion in the 10,000, also turned in one of the year's best times, racing through the 3,000 in 7:29.34 yesterday.
"How many people run as fast as me at age 30?" the Ethiopian asked.
Ivan Heshko of Ukraine ran the fastest 1,500 of the year in 3:35.15, while Maria Mutola of Mozambique also had the best women's 800, running 1:57.48 in front of 4,300 spectators.
Merlene Ottey, who has collected 12 Olympic and world championship medals, was last in the women's 60 metres at 7.29. Kim Gevaert of Belgium won the event in 7.14. (AP)
